The suspects involved in today's cash-in-transit heist, which took place between Matsulu and Kanyamazane on the N4, are still at large.

The incident took place at roughly 13:15. According to information, approximately 10 suspects, travelling in a black Mercedes, grey BMW, black BMW and a white bakkie, opened fire on a Fidelity Security armoured bakkie which was on its way from Malalane to Mbombela.

It is alleged that after the vehicle had come to a halt, the guards were forced out of the vehicle before the suspects blasted it with explosives. No serious injuries were sustained, but the driver was assaulted and has been taken to hospital.

The robbers fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
