Police in Delft slash drug dealing

Western Cape: The members of the Delft Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) are resolute in their mission to combat the drug problem, which is a leading cause of violent and severe crimes in the precinct. As a result of their dedication, they were able to successfully apprehend two men on Tuesday, ages 24 and 30, for the illegal possession of drugs.

At approximately 11:00 on May 7, Delft CPU members conducted stop and search operations in Palm Street, Delft South. During the search, they discovered 199 mandrax tablets in the possession of a 30-year-old man. The latter was arrested and taken into custody.

This followed a similar incident that occurred earlier that day, in the same street, as members were going about their routine duties. They stopped and searched a 24-year-old man, whom they found to be in possession of 49 sachets of tik. They subsequently arrested him for illegal drug possession.

Yesterday, both individuals appeared before the Bellville Magistrates' court on the aforementioned charges.

No follow-up has been issued as of the time of going live.
