Barberton Nursery School, the oldest nursery school in town, hosted its annual “FUN-letics” day on May 23. The much-loved event took place on the school grounds, where toddlers and preschoolers delighted in child-friendly versions of classic athletics events, including high jump, hurdles, long jump, sprints, and even a hammer throw.

Every child was cheered on by parents and teachers, making the morning a celebration of fun, joy and encouragement. Principal Monique Heunis said the day was not about competition but community spirit. “It was a joyous day filled with fun and laughter,” she said. “Every child walked away with a gold medal, because at Barberton Nursery School, everyone is a winner.” Children were also treated to ice lollies as a sweet end to a fun-filled event that has become a highlight on the school’s annual calendar.
