Western Cape: In a targeted operation on Monday, police in the City of Cape Town District successfully recovered stolen vehicles and vehicle parts in the Covid informal settlement in Kraaifontein. The intelligence-driven effort, carried out by an integrated team, also resulted in the arrest of a 33-year-old man.

Acting on information about a possible storage site for stolen and hijacked vehicles, officers launched the operation to inspect the premises. Upon securing the area, they discovered a Toyota Hilux LDV, reported stolen in Muizenberg, and a Nissan double cab, reported stolen in Kleinvlei.

Further investigation led the police to another shack in the area, believed to be used as a storage facility. Inside, they found parts from a Toyota Yaris and a VW Polo, along with numerous vehicle registration documents. The recovered vehicles and parts were confiscated as evidence.

Authorities arrested the suspect on the scene for possession of presumed stolen property. The operation highlighted the persistence and efficiency of the police members involved.

Investigations into the recovered vehicles and the suspect's possible connections to broader criminal activity are ongoing.

After being charged, the suspect is expected to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ Court.
