Western Cape: Efforts to maintain public safety in the province have continued to yield positive results as the year approaches its conclusion.

A collaborative operation involving the Ceres South African Police Service (SAPS), Witzenberg authorities, and provincial traffic officials proved effective on a Thursday evening during a roadblock operation along Ceres' R46 Road. While conducting a routine vehicle inspection to ensure roadworthiness, law enforcement officers halted a BMW. Upon inspecting the vehicle, they made a significant discovery: ten transparent plastic bags containing mandrax tablets.

In connection with this discovery, a 32-year-old foreign national was arrested and taken into custody. Legal proceedings will follow, with the suspect scheduled to appear in the Ceres Magistrates' Court once formal charges are filed.
