MPUMALANGA - The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Mpumalanga seeks the assistance of the public to trace Norman Sylvester Mokoena (23), known as “Dallas”, who escaped from the Calcutta Magistrate’s Court’s holding cells last year.

Mokoena escaped from the holding cells on November 5 after he had been charged and denied bail for a series of armed robberies he had committed in the Bushbuckridge (Marite) area, in which he had targeted delivery trucks.

He was arrested on October 8 after having robbed a bakery truck of an undisclosed amount of money at Marite, and fleeing the scene. He was traced and arrested afterwards and found in possession of an unlicensed firearm with ammunition.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect is urged to contact the investigating officer, Sgt Danny Sanderson, at 082-462-1817, contact the police Crime Stop number, 08600-10111, or use the MySAPS app. Information received will be treated with the strictest confidence.

The directorate also cautioned the public not to approach the suspect under any circumstances, as he is considered highly dangerous.
