WESTERN CAPE - Kraaifontein SAPS members arrested a 24-year-old male for dealing in drugs in Kraaifontein on Saturday at around 19:15.

SAPS members focusing on combatting ongoing gang violence within the Kraaifontein policing precint, working in partnership with City of Cape Town Law Enforcement officers, were patrolling in Scottsdene when they received information that drugs were sold from a wendy house at the back of a residential property in Klipbok Street.

The officers immediately searched the structure and discovered 56 and a half mandrax tablets and 42 sachets of dagga, with an estimated street value of more than R2 000. They confiscated an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect was arrested and detained on a charge of drug dealing. He appeared in the Kuils River Magistrate's Court on Monday.
The police members were lauded for their good work and working relationship with other law enforcement agencies. Community involvement is pivotal in the fight against crime, and the public was also thanked for its cooperation and willingness to provide the necessary information that led to the arrest of the suspect.

In an unrelated incident on Sunday at about 09:30, the Mitchells Plain Crime Prevention Unit spotted a suspicious male in Beacon Valley who started running when he saw them. The officers caught and searched the suspect, and found nine silver .45 auto bullets, nine gold .45 auto hollow-point bullets and 32 BMP 45 ACP bullets in his possession. The police arrested the 37-year-old male who faces charges of unlawful possession of ammunition, and is expected to appear in court once charged.

Dealing in drugs and the illegal possession thereof is a huge concern to the management of Bishop Lavis SAPS, hence its constant efforts to clamp down on it.

On Sunday at around 16:00, information was received of a female dealing in drugs. It pointed out the exact location of the drugs, as well as the person responsible for the sales.

SAPS members searched the premises and confiscated 0,088kg methamphetamine, 11 sachets' worth, 38 full mandrax tablets, nine straws filled with 'unga' and an undisclosed amount of cash. A 43-year-old female was arrested and detained. She appeared in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate's Court on Monday on a charge of dealing in drugs.
