KWAMHLANGA -  A man who allegedly murdered a 32-year-old woman at Moloto Block 4, KwaMhlanga, was speedily arrested, thanks to the swift response by police.

According to information at police disposal, the victim was last seen by her family members on Sunday, September 15. The following day, the family became suspicious when she did not show up to prepare her two daughters for school. It is alleged that the children then asked their mother’s boyfriend about her whereabouts, as he was the last person to be seen with her. He allegedly told them that their mother had gone to the clinic. He then left while a search for her was being conducted by community members in the area.

During the search, the victim’s younger brother went to look for his sister in her room after the boyfriend had left. He reportedly opened the boyfriend’s steel toolbox and was met by the gruesome sight of his sister’s half-naked and bruised body.

The motive for the killing is still unknown at this stage and a case of murder is being investigated. The Provincial Commissioner for Police, Lt Gen Mondli Zuma, immediately assigned an investigative team - in line with the 72 Hour Activation Plan - to investigate the murder. Zuma is pleased to report that the 32-year-old suspect was apprehended at his place of hiding in Makhutsho, near Ga-Masemola in Limpopo. Further investigations are also being conducted, as it is alleged that the suspect had also committed a house robbery shortly after the murder, in an effort to get money to flee. It has also been determined that the suspect was also being sought in connection with a number of other crimes, ranging from murder to rape, that had been  committed in Limpopo.

He is expected to appear in the Kwamhlanga Magistrate’s Court on Monday, September 23 on a charges of murder and house robbery. It is expected that he will be transported to Limpopo to face more charges.
