KOMATIPOORT – Nelson Luis Mundlovu (38) was remanded in custody in the local Periodical Court on April 30 on a charge of dealing in narcotics, after being arrested by the Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit at Lebombo Border Post near the town.

Mundlovu was nabbed during an intelligence-driven operation by border police, when members stopped and searched a taxi that had entered South Africa from neighbouring Mozambique.

Police uncovered multiple storage compartments in the vehicle containing ephedrine worth an estimated R2,5 million. The drugs were confiscated. Mundlovu is expected back in court on May 7 for formal bail application.
