Woman sought for concealment of birth

VOSMAN - The local SAPS are looking for a mother who discarded her stillborn infant at a dumping site. The infant, a baby boy, was discovered by three men at the site next to Schoongezight in Witbank, yesterday.

Police received a call around 11:00 to inform them about the infant in the plastic bag at the dumping site, and responded swiftly.

Upon arrival, the trio explained that they were looking for scrap metal when they came across a smelly plastic bag, and, upon opening it, they found the infant.

A case of concealment of birth was opened.

Anyone with information that might assist police in tracing the mother, is urged to contact Capt Mashilo on 082 685 6724 or the SAPS Crime Stop number 08600 10111.

The SAPS again appealed the community not to dump or abandon newborn babies, but rather to take them to places of safety or contact local social workers or relevant institutions for assistance.
