MBOMBELA - Police in Mpumalanga has opened an inquest into a horrific triple murder. The investigation follows on the gruesome discovery of the bodies of three children, aged eleven, six and three years, in a house in Breyten, near Ermelo.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the children’s throats were brutally slit. Police were summoned by the mother who stumbled upon the horrific scene when she returned from work.

Evidence so far points to the father, who allegedly collected the children from school and killed them. He then sent the mother a text message to inform her of the murders and stated that he was going to take his own life.
Subsequent to the message, news was received of a man who threw himself in front of a train and sustained serious injuries. It was later discovered that it was the father of the slain children.

The police in Mpumalanga have made an appeal to community members to seek professional help whenever they experience daunting challenges.
