BETHAL - The police in Mpumalanga have launched a manhunt for suspect(s) who broke into Forzando Colliery in Bethal and stole explosives. The incident occurred Friday June 29, at approximately 22:00.

It is unclear at this stage how the suspect(s) managed to access the storeroom where the explosives were stored. During an intensive investigation, it was discovered that 120 Maxam Magex cartridges were stolen.

It is believed that the these explosives will find their way to cash-in-transit gangs and criminals who target ATMs and commit other violent crimes.

The Provincial Commissioner for Police in Mpumalanga, Lt Genl Mondli Zuma, is  urgently appealing to the community to assist the police in this crucial investigation.

Anyone who has information that might lead to the arrest of suspect(s) and recovery of the explosives, is requested to contact Det Capt Rian Douglas on 084-230-4630 urgently.
