A collision that occurred on the N4 toll road between a motorbike and a bakkie earlier today, has claimed the life of one of government’s top spokesperson’s, Joseph Mabuza.

Mabuza was travelling from a work assignment on his motorbike at the time of the crash and was on his way back to Mbombela.

A case of culpable homicide is being investigated.

Mabuza has been with the government since 2008. Before his career in government, he was a journalist and newspaper editor.

The distraught Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Pat Ngomane has sent condolences to Mabuza's family, his colleagues and all his associates.

He was with Mabuza at the Lebombo Port of entry hours before the accident where they were checking the developments on traffic flow as Christmas is a few days away.

The MEC says what makes the pain of losing Mabuza even more profound is that he was a true champion for road safety.

He added that his passing is a profound loss, not only to the family and the department, but to the provincial government.

MEC Ngomane wished the family strength during this difficult time.

Details regarding his memorial and funeral services will be communicated in due course.

Africa InTouch News extend our sincere condolences to Joseph Mabuza's family, friends and colleagues. He was a true gentleman and always willing to assist with media related issues. Rest in Peace.
