The accused were  arrested on September 18 during a joint operation by the The Hawks’ provincial and national teams, the Special Task Force, SAPS Forensic Services, SANParks, the Department of Environmental Affairs, SARS and Customs, local and provincial detectives and the National Prosecuting Authority.

Sydney Petrus Mabuza (53), Clyde Lubisi (32), Cloud Mnisi (33), Joseph Nyalungu (53), Aretha Mhlanga (39) and Rachel Qwabane (33), have already made a series of court appearances since their arrest.
