LYDENBURG – Two brothers, aged 21 and 23, appeared in the Lydenburg Magistrate's Court on January 3 for possession of narcotics.

Their appearance spiralled from their arrest the previous afternoon after police received a tip off regarding the brothers' clandestine activities.

The police set up a sting operation and waited for the suspects. A white bakkie, fitting the description, was spotted coming from the direction of Dullstroom into Lydenburg. The vehicle was pulled over and searched. Police discovered and confiscated plastic bags containing narcotic drugs.

The brothers, Johannes Martinus Fourie (21) and Alex Frederick Fourie (23) were arrested. They were granted R1 000 bail each and were not asked to plead. They will appear at the same court on February 22.
