Suspects sought in connection with robbery at old-age home
BETHAL - The Bethal SAPS are asking for assistance in bringing to book three suspects who robbed a local old-age home of furniture and other items.
According to information at police disposal, the trio, two men and a woman who was dressed in a gown, targeted the home on Friday, December 22 around 23:00. They approached a security guard, who was on duty at the main gate, and informed her that they wanted to visit a family member.
When the guard told them that visiting hours were over, the men then reportedly pointed firearms at the guard, demanding entrance to the premises.
The guard, fearing for her life, then opened the gate, and the female suspect - gesturing throughout - led the way into the premises.
They ordered the matron to show them the location of the safe in which the keys to all the rooms were kept. The matron adhered to their demands.
The suspects stole television sets, decoders and jewellery.
They fled the scene with their loot in a bakkie without registration plates.
The value of the stolen items has not been established as yet. No one has been arrested in connection with the case and anyone with information that might assist in the investigation is urged to contact WO George Makgamata on 082-304-0052 or to call the SAPS Crimestop number on 08600 10111.
