Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Pat Ngomane has condemned the shooting of two traffic officers and a cash in transit security guard during a heist.

The incident occurred this morning on the road that joins the R541 Road and Nhlazatje near Badplaas. The two traffic officers were patrolling when they were shot at upon approaching the scene of robbery. The shootout also left two security guards seriously injured and the driver dead.

The two traffic officers were rushed to Embhuleni Hospital and later transferred to a hospital in Nelspruit for treatment.
Ngomane has raised concerns about the number of cash in transit robberies taking place in the province. He called on community members to assist the police with information that could lead to the arrest of the robbers.

He also encouraged the police to work hard in gathering information and evidence to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators.
Ngomane wished the injured traffic officers and security guards a speedy recovery and sends condolences to the family of the deceased driver.
