MBOMBELA - The KaNyamazane Magistrate’s Court has issued an order that the body of a 17- year-old boy, believed to have died in a beating, should be exhumed today, September 13. The order follows on a murder investigation into the death of Lungile Nkosi, who was allegedly assaulted by his parents and two brothers in Pienaar on Thursday, September 6.

According to information at police disposal, four family members supposedly accused the victim of the theft of his sister’s cellphone. He was allegedly beaten to death and the family never reported the matter to the police. They then instructed the undertaker to indicate the cause of death as due to natural causes. Nkosi was buried on Saturday, September 8.

Concerned members of the community brought the matter to the attention of the police and an investigation was initiated. The suspects were arrested and appeared in court yesterday on charges of murder and defeating the ends of justice. They were remanded in custody and will reappear in the same court on Friday, 14 September for formal bail application.
